Race Night

Clerk to the course, Graham Olds, officiated and proved himself an excellent auctioneer of horses as well as a practiced commentator as the novice jockeys took up the reins in a series of 8 races, all sponsored by local businesses and supporters of the school. The tote was expertly managed by volunteers from South Hill Cricket Club – thanks to Martin, Crispin and Roger for their help.
The evening threatened to be overshadowed by controversy when novice chaser Turkish Delight, owned by C Clarke and ridden by A Little was left chomping at the bit after their race result was declared void and subject to a re-run after an incident on the course. However, generous portions of chilli potatoes and a cash bar kept the punters happy during a fund raising evening which turned out to be huge fun as well as profitable.
Thanks to all our sponsors (Coln House staff, Trevor Hing, Nelson La Rochelle, The Ernest Cook Trust, George's MOTs, Paul Morse Roofing, The Paton Family, and The Mason's Arms, Meysey Hampton) and to everyone who attended the event and took part with such enthusiasm!

The resulting £1700 profit is to be spent on improvements to the Food Tech area.
